The German Centre for Mental Health (DZPG) is entering its expansion phase. Over the next five years, €17.3 million will be made available for projects at the Halle, Jena and Magdeburg sites. The aim is to improve our understanding of how mental illnesses develop and to develop new approaches to diagnosis and therapy.
The Leibniz Institute for Neurobiology (LIN) will contribute its expertise in molecular and systemic neuroscience. "Using modern methods such as spatial transcriptomics, we can visualise which genes are active in which brain cells – and thus gain new insights into the development and treatment of neuropsychiatric disorders," says Prof. Dr. Stefan Remy, Scientific Director of the LIN.
Close collaboration with Magdeburg University Hospital, Otto von Guericke University, and the DZNE will enable findings from basic research to be transferred to clinical application, benefiting both science and patients.
