How can a brain barely larger than a walnut enable complex thinking? Crows and other birds plan, solve problems and have a good memory.

In his lecture, 'The Parallel Evolution of Complex Thinking', biopsychologist Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. Onur Güntürkün of Ruhr University Bochum, winner of the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize, introduces the world of intelligence research. He demonstrates how birds can perform cognitive tasks despite their small brains, and what this reveals about the evolution of intelligence.
