The LIN invites all pupils with a special interest in Neuroscience to apply for a 1-week internship during winter vacation, from February 10 to 14, 2020. The practical course will approach questions like how nerve cells work and how memory functions. The course will be limited to 10 trainees. Applications are open to all school kids who are at least 15 years old at the beginning of the internship. The application deadline is January 20, 2020.
In short lectures and seminars participants will learn more about the contents of the experiments. Supervised by experienced technicians, the trainees can deepen their new knowledge experimentally in the LIN laboratories.
Participants will visit the EEG laboratory and measure brain waves, stain nerve cells and observe them under the microscope, analyse DNA or proteins, observe flies during learning and get to know brain’s networks responsible for memory.
To apply for the course (which will be held in German), students must complete the application form, get it signed by a parent and upload it to the website, together with a letter of motivation describing their interests and expectations to do an internship at LIN.
